This session was run by Dr Komal Atta (University of Faisalabad, Pakistan) and host Dr Jonny Guckian (ASME Director of SoMe and Communications) and discussed the role of SoMe in the professional identity formation of doctors.
Social media has now become an extension of our everyday life. Every key event is tweeted or put on Instagram/Facebook. In these times of digitalisation, the use of social media for medical practice/advice/COPs by medical health professionals is also commonplace.
This talk discussed the common social media practices of doctors and medical students and how it affects Professional Identity formation, how these practices vary worldwide and how we may use them so that we may be able to inculcate social media safely and positively into our healthcare and educational practices.
